About the event
RSK's birthday has always been close to Mothers Day and because of this she learned the importance of honoring her lineage while also urshing in new generations. This picnic will laucnh the Hand Me Down Project. The Hand Me Down Project is a sustainability initiative using the material conditions of the southern community to shape culture through art and stories. Please come wearing something handed down or represenative of your family's or community's heritage and culture. This event is dedicated to the matriarchal lineage that is not limited to cis-gender expereince. So please come as your most comfortable gender idnenty. All matriarchal caregivers are welcomed. Food and drinks will be provided. This event will have options for both indoor and outdoor participation, but will happen regardless of weather. COVID consideration include providing mask, hand sanitizer, and rapid test to take home following the event. There will also be a photographer to help capture important moments. This picinic is for ages 14 and up as the space is intended to generate vulnerablity and authentic connection. Please RSVP by 4/27/22.
